Achieve business success through growing a high-performing team

Engage Your Staff with these 3 golden rules

There are three simple golden rules to engage your staff.

Follow them if you want to achieve your business objectives.

For your employees to work the way you want them to, they need you to:

1.  Give them something to believe in

Your employees really want to know:

  • Why their job is important
  • Your core values, vision, mission and goals

How have you communicated these to your team? You can start this communication right at the beginning, in your recruitment process.

When your staff feel engaged with what you are trying to achieve, they will be more driven to help your business succeed.

2. Communicate your expectations

Your values, vision and mission are why your business is in the game.

Your organisational chart, policies, procedures, job descriptions and employment contracts are the rules of the game.

You also need to let people know how they fit into the wider picture of the work that is done in your organisation. Set KPIs, meet with them regularly and track their performance to help them succeed.

3.  Make sure they are the best fit for the job

A closer examination of productivity problems often reveals they result from ‘square pegs in round holes’.

We help managers reassess the fitness of key people within their teams and take steps to allow their strengths to shine. This could result in more training or restructuring or may simply lead to shifting some tasks between people.

With the right people in the right positions, you can be confident you have built a winning team.
